The Book of Mark is an action-packed Gospel—more miracles are chronicled here than in the other Gospels. In this sermon, Pastor Jeremy Choy encourages us to take hold of Jesus, because if we do, our lives will never be the same again. But taking hold of Jesus is not us holding Him ransom to our demands; instead, three things will happen to us if we allow Him to work in us. First, His timing rarely operates according to our hurried schedules. We may feel we need a miracle right this minute but taking hold of Jesus means we have to let go of our own fears and solutions and let God be God. Second, we will receive much more than we ask for when we take hold of Jesus; however, this often requires us to trust, wait and surrender to Him, and in that process, we are transformed. Third, when we take hold of Jesus, purpose and hope will be restored. No matter how lifeless a situation may be, Jesus can bring it back to life and make it flourish again. As Jesus said to Jairus: do not be afraid, only believe.
